An invitation from our friends at 13 Fires Winnipeg

13 Fires Winnipeg
Building a more racially inclusive Winnipeg

We’re gathering on December 12th from 4-7pm to kick off the 13 Fires Conversation Series! We hope you’ll join us at Thunderbird House (715 Main Street, Winnipeg) and help the community celebrate Our Summit, hear the recommendations, and plan the remaining 12 Fires for 2016.

This is a FREE event!

Thank you to the Village for making this possible:
– Spence Neighbourhood Association will provide child minding
– Food Not Bombs will prepare our delicious family dinner

December’s event is sponsored by the City of Winnipeg’s Citizen Equity Committee, which gives us the chance to support the village by renting space at the Thunderbird House and ordering catering from community members. Miigwetch!

Working Agenda
– Welcome and Opening Ceremonies
– Opening Remarks
– Welcoming Activity
– Our Summit Report and Recommendations
– Group Planning for 13 Fires (topics, schedule, invitations, and assessment)
– Family Dinner

13 Fires is an opportunity for different communities to come together and work towards the common goal of racial inclusion. We want to build relationships across communities, share our experiences and work, and collaborate on actions that challenge racism in our city and systems. Each month in 2016 will feature a different topic, set by the community in the December launch. We welcome participation from all communities and all sectors!
